A MURDER A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY

Some mornings she felt like she couldn’t even breathe. But this morning she knew anything and everything was possible. Maybe even murder.

Cassie tugged through her knotted ash blonde hair with a fine comb, she wasn’t really paying attention, and her mind was elsewhere. She knew what she wanted and she knew where to get it. She continued the arduous task of her morning routine, grabbed her car keys and seated herself in the vehicle. With a menacing smile drawn across her face as she dramatically removed the car out of its parking space and headed to her destination.

Her smile never faulted as her mind flittered through the disgusting and vicious ways she could lure and murder her victim. She was so distracted by her thoughts that she missed the turning to her destination. Was it a sign for her to abandon her evil duty? Luckily, or unluckily, Cassie didn’t believe in signs, she turned around and headed back to the missed turn off. She flicked down her indicator and turned with great force towards her destination. Once she arrived she parked her car and pulled down the mirror.

“I can do this. I was chosen for this. He told me I’m ready. I can do this.” She repeated to herself mechanically. Then she smiled and licked her lips.

Cassie exited her vehicle, smoothed down her slightly crumpled attire and made her way to the front door of the chosen victim’s house. Feeling no fear whatsoever she gave a strong knock on the front door. She began to whisper the same words she said in the car when the door swung open. Her wicked smile faulted as she was met with the barrel of a gun barely three inches away from her face. In one swift movement Cassie whipped out her own gun and aimed.

BANG. BANG. BANG.
